My Crazy Book Addiction Review:

This book was a fanatic contemporary romance read. I really really enjoyed it! Unrequited young love is one of those genres that just gives me the feels… and oh the feels that this story brought out. Home to You was so rewarding and sweet. Jake and Katie stole my heart and I was cheering for them the whole way through. I loved their backstory and that the author dedicated a good amount of page time going back to build it up. This, in my opinion, added the necessary depth that was needed to truly understand these characters. I loved how the author was so detailed in the characters’ emotions and particularly enjoyed that the author gave her characters realistic flaws. Jake, who is riddled with guilt has the annoying habit of being too overprotective and sending mixed signals and Katie can drive you just a bit crazy with her over reactions and borderline tantrums but considering her age and experiences, a reader can forgive her. The characters, even in their flaws seemed so real to me and totally sucked me in. Too perfect of characters and I’ll be bored. I enjoying suspending my disbelief when I read but really, that only goes so far in a contemporary read.

Like I said, this book was a sweet, fun read and I do look forward to other stories from Ms. Sullivan. As a matter of fact the first thing I did after finishing was to go out and search to see if there was more of Katie and Jake’s story. I really enjoyed this book and will rate it a 4 out of 5 on Amazon. 🙂

Happy Reading and Merry Christmas!!!!

Blood Kiss by J.R. Ward!

Blood Kiss

Oh Warden…. why oh why do you do this to me? Sadistic! First she goes and creates the whole Black Dagger Brotherhood world, sucks me into her web of awesome and now goes and writes a spin off series that has all but taken over my life the last few days. Dammit…. I can’t afford another obsession! I have one now because Holy Hotness this book was AWESOME! Terrific! I could go on throwing out adjectives all day long on how great this book is.. it was that amazing.

J.R. Ward really hit it big with her BDB series. I think she is on book 14 now and even though the series is long, it is still going strong. So while the whole BDB universe is growing and evolving, the original brothers have started to fade into the background and it seems that Ms. Ward agrees with her loyal readers, it is time for more of the brothers! Blood Kiss is the first in a new spin off series that features the new brother hood training recruits but guess what…. it really really focuses on the brothers! The Warden pitched the idea to her her publisher because she like us, missed them. Oh how wonderful it is!

So here are my thoughts… Paradise, despite the name choice, was PERFECT! I loved her. She was sassy, witty, strong and absolutely hilarious. Craeg was her perfect other half. He was mysterious, strong and vulnerable in a way that didn’t make him seem weak. These two were the best. Butch and Marissa were also a major focus in the book. I can’t stand Marissa, I seriously cannot deal when she is on the page but having Paradise in there took the sappy, weak, annoyance of Marissa and toned her down. Okay okay to be fair Marissa did have a couple good scenes where she rocked it but it is going to take me a while to appreciate her character. Anyway Butch was great and we dive a bit deeper into his psyche, always a fun place to be. 🙂 Now my man V really hit it out of the park. He is my fav of all the brothers so getting to see him on any page makes me smile. Rhage was in fine form which was a treat and Lassister… well Lassister was the smart ass, fallen angel bastard that we know and love. OMG he was wonderful and may or may not have been responsible for quite a few “laugh out loud” moments! Caution: there are parts that are best read without others who are not enjoying the story with you. When you are rolling around holding your side as you laugh your butt off, you may appear odd .. just a fair warning.

So the short of it is, this was a great book and a stellar launch into a new series. Any BDB fan will be thrilled and totally excited for the next one. Oh my blog buddies the good news is that you don’t have to wait too long. The Beast hits stands in the spring so our next BDB fix is coming soon. I would rate Blood Kiss a BIG 5+…. it may be one of the best BDB books she has written. Highly recommended!

Happy Reading!
